It can be important to have some knowledge about these areas in rifle shooting and hunting. Especially at slightly longer shooting distances, the choice of cartridge/projectile is important, just as bullet drop and wind drift can affect the point of impact and the result of the shot.

When you buy rifle cartridges, you only see very little information on the package about the properties, capabilities and efficiency of the projectile – and there are several other useful ballistic values that are worth knowing.
